it won't miss you

What’s yours won’t miss you.

I can still remember how this quote from a book helped me to be positive all throughout my second term at Philippine Normal University.

The majorship season is still vivid to me. Maybe because it took me longer than most students to determine the major that matches my personality and interests. Yes, personality—you read that right. Since our major isn’t just about wanting it and hoping to pass the major, you really have to fight for your spot.

In my case, my first choice was English. The first phase was the exam, which consisted of a photo essay and reaction paper. Well, I remember how much I prayed and how many times I repeated that specific quote from the book, so that when they release the results, I won’t be disappointed and I know I did everything I could.

Here comes the day they release the passers... Unfortunately, I did not make it to the next phase. Well, as I’ve said, what’s yours won’t miss you. The process of our majoring is indeed exhausting and upsetting since for those who still can’t pass their second and third choices, they or we have to deal with the rejections twice or thrice more. And, when we deal with rejection, it isn’t just about the thought of not having a major, but we also doubt our capabilities as an individual—which made my second term quite blurry since I don’t know what I am pursuing.

That quote from the book "What a Time to be Alone" by Chidera Eggerue really helped me, not only in our majorship season but also, in how to deal with life and move on immediately. The quote made me realize that if it is really for you, or if the heavens above really want it for you, it will come to you effortlessly. This mindset really helped me not dwell on a situation or happening, and it helped me move forward with a light heart, everytime.

Moreover, it helped me gain faith and trust in the process of rejectionthat it is only bringing me toward the right major, places, things, and people that are meant for me.

PS. I am pursuing Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education now. :)
